Lucas is Three Weeks Old Today
And entering a new month. Where did June go? Less in a blur of sleep deprevation and more in a blur of never knowing what to expect from him from day to day. With family helping out and Jeff working from home the first couple of weeks, we were sleeping later. Now with Jeff back at work we are getting up earlier and i'm trying to get a bit more of a schedule going with me and my boy so that i have my hands free for small parts of the day. He seems to alternate btw being a great kid during the day and inconsolable at night or being totally groggy at night and unable to figure out what he wants during the day. Yesterday's goal was to get him to nap in his bed. Failure. But the attempt at getting him to sleep in his bed most the night was very successful. Funny thing was that i slept much lighter cause he went to sleep at 9pm and i kept thinking about midnight, "do i wake him up and feed him? or just see how long he'll go?" Newborns are suppose to eat ever 3-5 hrs overnight. Would it kill him or me to go a bit longer? I ended up feeding him at 12:30 and then he kindly allowed me to put him back down in his bed. Of course, then he was more awake in the wee hours of the morn than he is on nights when we can't get him to sleep til midnight...
I found a website to help me keep my sanity. I was laughing outloud yesterday and getting some hope i could survive the newborn phase with my sense of humor intact.
Naps and walks rule.
